The text provides a good overview of the current state of “Public History” at German universities. This can be seen, among other things, in the central points of discussion: the location of public history between history and didactics, the structure and infrastructure of the study programmes, the temporal perspective (contemporary history and older epochs / ancient history) and not least the question of the relationship between university and practice. It becomes clear that the public history at german universities is still in the process of being determined. Numerous questions still need to be clarified. But, a central question is: Do we need university programs for public history? The essay rightly answers this question in the affirmative. It is primarily about the reflected action of future Publi Historians.
